• PhD degrees mentored in seed health, seed technology, plant biotechnology and plant pathology,

  • MSc degree in seed technology and seed business

  • Short courses in Biotechnology, seed health, seed technology and seed business for seed sector development for African partners

  • Molecular tools for plant disease diagnostics and variety selection

Target groups eligible for these short course training include:

o   Young Scientists with interests and working in  biosciences

o   Medium scale farmers and growers

o   SMEs in seed production and seed business

o   Extension agents – training of trainers to enforce wider and better sharing of transfer of the technology and knowledge to farmers and growers

o   Plant breeders and technicians or field officers from research institutions. ARIs that deals with plant breeding.

o   Seed technologists, seed certification officers

o   Seed regulatory representatives

o   The centre is also planning to offer short courses on Hands-on Application of

            This module is targeted to provide basic and practical skills in the following:

o   Molecular diagnosis and detection of pathogenic races in seeds and whole plant samples

o   Conventional identification and diagnosis of pathogens in plant and seeds

o   Tools for markers assisted selection in crop improvement

o   DNA fingerprinting for variety identity and identification of fake seeds
